Our recipe for Air Fryer Apple Fries is a snack that both parents and kids can agree upon. It is made from nutritious apples that are slightly sweet and coated in a crunchy coating and air-fried into a tasty snack that kids will love.

Prep Time 15 mins

Baking Time 27 mins

Total Time 42 mins

  • Air Fryer

  • Baking Sheet

  • Shallow Bowls

  • Sharp knife

  • 3 pcs Large Baking Apples
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 pcs Large Eggs
  • 1 cup Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • Baking Spray
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees for about 5 minutes. Spread a sheet of parchment paper onto a baking sheet and then set this aside.

  • Wash the apples and wipe them dry. Peel the apples and cut them into wedges. Each apple should make about 8 wedges.

  • Put the flour into a shallow bowl and set it aside until needed.

  • Beat the eggs in another shallow bowl.

  • In a third shallow bowl, stir together the cinnamon, sugar, and graham cracker crumbs.

  • Toss the apple wedges in the flour mixture. Work in batches of about 4 or 5 wedges at a time.

  • Next, dip the apple wedges into the beaten eggs, coating them well all over.

  • Finally, roll the egg coated apple slices in the graham cracker crumbs, placing each wedge on the parchment lined baking sheet.

  • Repeat with all the apples. Spray the apples with a thin layer of cooking spray, flipping them over to coat the backsides as well.

  • Place the apple fries into the air fryer in a single layer. Allow a bit of space between the apples, and do not pile them atop one another. Air fry the apple wedges for about 5 minutes and then, using a pair of tongs, turn them over. Cook the apple wedges for an additional 2 minutes or until they are golden brown. You will probably need to work in batches to fit all the apple fries in the cooker.

  • Remove the apple fries from the air fryer and serve them hot. You may even want to offer a small cup of caramel sauce to accompany the apple fries.

Have you gotten in on the air fryer craze? If not, you may want to try it, especially if you have kids. Air fryers are almost like a countertop convection oven. These unique cookers have a massive fan in the appliance that moves hot air around the foods in the fryer. This makes things cook quickly and gives many foods unique crispiness that typically only came from foods that were deep-fried.

We all love snacks that provide a crispy texture, but kids, in particular, enjoy that unique crunch. Our recipe for Air Fryer Apple Fries has a crunchy coating that comes from the graham crackers and the unique cooking abilities of an air fryer. You don’t have to deep-fry foods to get that texture when you have an air fryer.

Air fryers are also good ways for budding cooks to start dipping their toes into baking and cooking. The appliances are fairly straightforward and safe to use. If your kids are looking for a beginner recipe that is easy, safe, and delicious to make, this might be the one for them to try.

Our recipe instructs you to peel the apples before dipping them in the coatings. However, if you want to, you can leave the peel on the apples. While kids may prefer the texture of a peeled apple, the peel contains a high percentage of the nutrients in an apple. With the bright colors, apple peels actually contain more nutrients than the flesh of the apple.

In fact, over a third of the fiber found in a whole apple comes from the peel. Fiber helps promote a sense of fullness and satiety and helps to increase bowel health.  Apple peels contain antioxidants that can help fight cancer and possibly protect against Alzheimer’s disease. They also contain compounds that help burn calories and may lead to the reduction of obesity and diabetes.

Any baking apple will work in this recipe. Granny Smith apples are a classic choice of baking apples, but Golden Delicious apples will work as well. Even some of the more typical eating apples like a Gala, Fuji or Honeycrisp stay firm enough when cooked to be appropriate for this recipe. You should avoid the Red Delicious apple, however.

While this apple is good to eat raw, when it is cooked, it dissolves into a mushy pulp. Your apple fries won’t work out very well if you use a Red Delicious apple.

If your kids are tired of getting a plain old apple with maybe some peanut butter for their after-school snacks, you may want to try this recipe for Air Fryer Apple Fries. Even adults will like these fruity, sweet, and delicious snacks. They also may serve as a not too sugary dessert for after dinner. If you really want to wow your family, you can serve the Apple Fries with a small cup of caramel sauce in which they can dip their apple fries.
