The Edit :: Essentials for the Summer of Socially Distanced Picnics

After two weeks on the Oregon Coast last month, I started to consider myself a connoisseur of beach picnic essentials. By the time we left, I had a small list of items that I wished we’d had on hand for our lovely vacation. Just those little things that make days at the beach a bit more comfortable and long-lasting.

Now that we’re back in the city, I’m not sure I’ll be investing in all of them, but seeing how this will be the summer of endless socially-distanced picnics as the only way to see our friends, I have a feeling they may come in more handy than ever!

SHOP: 1. tiki fringe beach umbrella | 2. macrame beach umbrella | 3. mexican yoga blanket | 4. fold up cane beach chair | 5. picnic basket set | 6. stripe beach throw | 7. sun visor | 8. block print beach umbrella

If you’re style is a bit more boho, you can join me in my love of this simple beach set up from Erica at HonestlyWTF  who paired the hottest lounge chair of the summer with a gorgeous block print beach umbrella she purchased in India. A quick Etsy search led me to a near identical one!

For those of you as obsessed with this chair as everyone else – you can find it at Land & Sand which ships internationally, pre-order it through this Etsy shop, or go for a similar style (with a non-adjustable back) from Zara Home.

And how cute is that complete picnic set from Crate & Barrel? I love that you can use the lid as a tray too.

1. picnic basket tote | 2. round beach towel | 3. pop up sun shade tent | 4. cooler tote | 5. folding wood and canvas beach chair | 6. blue and white stripe beach umbrella with fringe | 7. enamelware bowls with lids | 8. striped beach lounge chair

If you go for a classic stripe at the beach (who doesn’t!?) then this selection is for you. For those who struggle with the beach umbrella, I wanted to include this easy pop up beach tent as a secondary option! I also love this one. There are quite a few out there at reasonable prices and they feel a bit more realistic and usable for families as well as good social distancing practices!

Some of these items are steals (the cooler tote!) and some a bit more of a splurge – but worth it – depending on your level of beach commitment this summer and beyond. If I were an everyday beach goer, you better believe I’d be adopting some of these super cute umbrellas and loungers! But for now, I’ve got the folding wood and canvas chairs in my cart for keeping around the yard and our occasional picnicking.

What do you think?
