It was the dramatic dining room that instantly caught my eye in this apartment designed by White Arrow. Hello, gorgeous wide plank floors, classic architecture, and fresh mix of modern furnishings, drenched in natural light. The simplicity of the design makes this smaller space feel like it has plenty of breathing room to offer. And it doesn’t stop there.
A quick peek around the corner reveals a quietly beautiful kitchen with loads of details. The textured finish on the island, a curved wall with nearly invisible storage, and that gorgeous brass trim on the floating shelves that bring your eye around the room. The simplicity of the single pendant that packs a little punch.
After remodeling our own kitchen, I’ve never looked at another kitchen the same way, knowing all the little decisions that go into making it one complete room. This one balances some old world with new, and I love it.
When renovating the apartment, the designers completely relocated the kitchen, which explains a bit about how much they were able to customize (and add natural light) here. In keeping with the theme of simplicity, the appliances have been totally hidden, and – if I’m not mistaken – undermount lighting has been tucked into the wrap around shelf. A kitchen like this is not just beautiful – it’s a lifestyle choice. Opting for a less is more look means being way more selective about what’s going in it. And while I spy a few small spots for an espresso machine or toaster, that’s about it.
